I took these six photos on a walk in my neighborhood in Stockton, California. There are some beautiful and vivid fall colors to be spotted here. The weather is great: cool and sunny.

While I was enjoying a stay at Yosemite Lodge, I took these pictures around the valley floor and along the Merced River. There was still some fall color and the fall weather was great. It was off-season so there were few people and few tour buses. I used a Nikon D600 FX with two prime lenses: a Nikkor 50 mm 1.8 and a wide angle Nikkor 20 mm 2.8. A beautiful day in the National Park.
Despite inclement weather, I was able to take a few pictures of fall color on a recent trip to Yosemite Valley, California. I took the pictures with a Nikon D600 and a Nikkor 24 to 85 mm lens. I felt like I was viewing the last days of fall foliage before the winter snow storms get under way. The mist, fog and clouds made the colors look intense, saturated and unexpected.
On my way back to Stockton, CA, from the Nevada Silver Trails, I stopped along Highway 120 in Yosemite National Park to take these four pictures of bright, intense, red leaves of the dogwoods among the tall redwoods.
Here are some pictures I took of fall color in June Lake Loop Resort area last Wednesday, October 17. The aspens were at or near peak. It was my first stop on a trip from Stockton, CA, to Nevada Silver Trails. The last two pictures I took Sunday, October 21, of the same area but taken from HWY 120 east of US 395 on the return trip to Stockton. Wonderful autumn weather and beautiful color.
Highway 168 West from Bishop, CA, on Highway 395, takes you up into the Eastern Sierra to a region called Bishop Creek. It has several lakes at different elevations that gives you diverse views and perspectives of aspens turning color in the Eastern Sierra. Here are 9 pictures of fall color in the Eastern Sierra from North Lake, to Sabrina Lake, and to South Lake. The tenth and last picture is one of June Lakes Loop, between Mammoth Lake and Mono Lake, CA, along Highway 395. I used a Nikon D300s camera with a Nikon 18-200 mm DX lens. I always shoot digital images in raw format and then process them in Photoshop. I like the views on roads less traveled.
With the help and generosity of family members and friends, I was able to take these pictures of fall color along the Blue Ridge Mountains Parkway in North Carolina. We drove south on the Parkway from West Jefferson, NC, Monday, October 11, 2010. The weather was beautiful: warm and sunny. Our drive ended in Blowing Rock with a cup of raspberry sorbet. Some of the views are in the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park. I used a Nikon D300s camera with a Nikon Zoom 18-200 mm lens.
I took this picture of a sunset on the San Joaquin River during the time of the equinox. The weather and season is transitioning here as the sun is crossing the celestial equator and the clouds show that. I took a smoked salmon sandwich to eat as I sat on the levee while waiting for the sun to set watching the clouds swirling above me and the wind rippling the surface of the river in front of me. I imagine that the Delta Sky is one that Van Gogh would like. Enjoy fall.
Stuck in Sydney posting old photos taken with various camera phones on my world travels. Posting in arty Black and White and includes witty commentary 🇦🇺
