Day’s Journey to Milton, CA

On a day trip to Milton, California, with a fellow photographer, I took some pictures along the way. We drove from Stockton, California, via Highway 26 to Jenny Lind Road, to Milton Road, and to Rock Creek Road. We returned to Stockton on Highway 4. I learned that Milton was established in 1871 as a terminus for the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was named after Milton Latham, an railroad engineer. Milton was the first town in Calaveras County to have a railroad. I used a Nikon D600 FX with a Nikkor 50 mm normal lens and a Nikkor 20 mm wide angle. Calaveras County is one of my favorite spots to photograph simply because the past remains into the present with little or no modernization.

Salt Spring Valley

Here are five pictures I took while driving through Salt Spring Valley. The valley is part of the Gold Country. It lies between Copperopolis and Milton, California. From Highway 4 near Copperopolis I turned down Rock Creek Road that goes through the valley and I ended at Milton. There are farms, ranches, wind pumps, cattle, horses, green pastures, and wildflowers in the valley. I used a Nikon D600 FX camera with Nikkor 50 mm lens, 20 mm lens, and telephoto 70 to 300 mm lens. A magnificent day for a picnic!

Here are some pictures that recently I took on several day trips to the Gold Country in Northern California along Highway 49. I visited Historic Folsom, Volcano, Sutter Creek, Mekolumne River near Jackson, and finally a day trip to Del Porto Canyon. I used a Nikon D600 FX camera with Nikkor 50 mm lens and 20 mm lens. Great weather and beautiful blue skies.

Shiloh Wind Project Revisited

Here are six pictures I took roaming around the Shiloh Wind Project area near Rio Vista, California. It is interesting to me to see how the wind tower farms blend with the agricultural pastures and ranches in the region. I used a Nikon D600 with a Nikkor 70 to 300mm telephoto lens and a Nikkor 20mm wide angle lens. I find green energy fascinating to observe.

After the recent rain storms in the Central Valley, I drove from Stockton east on Highway 4 toward Copperopolis. Instead of turning right toward Copperopolis, I turned left on Rock Creek Road. Here are four pictures of pastures along the way. I used a Nikon D300s with a Nikon 18 to 200 mm DX lens. As you can see the rocks go with the farm, the cows are contented and the wind pumps the water.

Sun Sighting Between Storms.

When the sun came out last Saturday, I grabbed my camera and went to shoot some pictures of the Shiloh II Wind Project near Rio Vista along Highway 12 in California.  These are the first pictures that I took with a new prime lens, Nikkor 1.8G 35mm DX APS. It’s considered a normal lens for Nikon DX cameras. It’s very small, light, and fast. It has been a long time since I have took pictures with a normal prime lens. Here are some results.
