Water Hyacinths in a Delta Slough, California

Just after sunrise, I took these photos of water hyacinths in a slough near the Middle River in the San Joaquin River Delta. I found these scenic spots along Bacon Island Road off of Highway 4 near Stockton, California. Mount Diablo is the mountain in the background and the railway draw bridge is over the Middle River. Although the water pond hyacinths are beautiful, they frequently clogged the waterways here in the Delta.

Olli Bird Safari: Lodi Winery

Here are eight images that I took on a Bird Safari at Heritage Oak Winery, East Woodbridge Road, Acampo, California. The Edventure is offered by Olli, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, at University of the Pacific. Our guide is David Yee. Heritage Oak is a popular birding spot in the Central Valley.

Spring Color in Carrizo Plain

I captured these images on a road trip to Carrizo Plain National Monument in San Luis Obispo County in California. I was amazed at the extent of the colorful blooms I saw there. I guess the many spring blooms are the results of the long rainy season we’re having here in California.

Cherry Orchards near Linden, California

I took these three photos of cherry orchards near Linden, San Joaquin County, California. The first one has wild yellow mustard growing beneath the cherry trees. The last two photos are of older mature cherry trees still producing beautiful blossoms.

Rock Creek Road, Calavaras County, California

Here are six photos I took on a drive down Rock Creek Road or near the road. I find early spring a good time to visit the area simply because of the green grasslands with wildflowers, vernal pools, rock outcropping, and Salt Spring Lake.

Fall Equinox on Lodi Lake, California

Here’s a mosaic of three pictures I took of Lodi Lake and Mokelumne River. I was participating in a Bird Safari. There were plenty of birds but unfortunately for me they were too small and too fast to photograph. Nonetheless their habit is beautiful.

San Diego Sightseeing

My friend who owns a Mini Cooper invited me to join him from Sacramento, California to Pasadena, California to participate in The Mini’s Take The States 2018, a partial leg of the event. He decided on a short side trip to San Diego before returning to Stockton, California. Here are some pictures I took there on a quick sightseeing tour. It was short but fun simply because ‘it’s 5 o’clock somewhere’.
